First United Methodist Church of Liberty

What can I expect in worship?

Come as you are. We welcome everyone. As Wesleyans we believe we are all moving onto perfection, but you don’t need to be perfect to come to church. We’re a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints. Whether we’re worshipping in the Middleton Chapel or the main sanctuary, there are no assigned seats. Worship begins at 10:45 am, and while we are always open to the Spirit’s movement, you can expect to be on your way to lunch before noon.

Our Worship

At Liberty First United Methodist Church, we believe that worship is something you do, not something you watch. We sing from traditional hymnals and follow a liturgical style of worship, but we strive to connect our historic roots to our modern lives. United Methodists believe in an open table, so when we participate in Communion we welcome everyone who loves God at Christ’s table. When we say that everyone is welcome to participate in worship, we mean it. God made you. God loves you. That’s good enough for us.

Children and Nursery Care

We welcome and encourage children of all ages to participate in Sunday morning worship. While a nursery is available for children up to 5 years old, we love children, including their joyful noise, in our sanctuary. Because we understand sitting still during even the most engaging parts of worship can be difficult for some children, we provide “busy bags” with items to keep children’s hands and minds occupied. At Liberty FUMC, children are not just the future of the church, they are a vital part of the church right now.
