Perpetual Care in an Historic Texas Cemetery

The Cooke Memorial Cemetery was established in 1846 by Jackson Hawkins Griffin and was originally known as the Griffin Cemetery. In 1864 the property was sold to Dr. James P. Cooke, who donated it to the Liberty Methodist Church in 1881. Since then the First United Methodist Church has maintained the cemetery as perpetual care cemetery serving our community.
